Featuring works by 22 international artists, ‘Paintings Without Paint’ questions what it is that defines a painting, and where the boundaries and rules for the medium lie. Two Damien Hirst works are included in the exhibition at David Risley Gallery: ‘Fly Test for Ten Plagues’ (2008), a prototype for a series of fly paintings Hirst created in 2008; and ‘Cicutoxin’ (2012), a painting from a new series of works in which pills are affixed to a varnished canvas.

Other featured artists are: Frank Ammerlaan, Steve Bishop, Boyle Family, Michal Budny, Dan Colen, Alex Da Corte, Graham Dolphin, Jürgen Drescher, FOS, Henry Krokatsis, Allan McCollum, Eline McGeorge, Elizabeth Newman, Magali Reus, Anselm Reyle, Torben Ribe, Troels Sandergård, Amikam Toren, Keith Tyson, Klaus Weber and Mette Winckelmann.
