‘Fragile State’ sees work by Damien Hirst featured alongside that of Marina Abramović, Jan Fabre, Urs Fischer, Douglas Gordon, Ai Weiwei, Carlos Motta, Oscar Murillo, Santiago Sierra and Barthélémy Toguo. The exhibition seeks to connect notions of personal vulnerability with national and political fragilities.
Featured in the show is Hirst’s ‘Here Today, Gone Tomorrow’ (2008). The work is composed of four glass instrument cabinets arranged in a cross-shape, whose shelves house a symmetrical display of fish skeletons and fish suspended in formaldehyde. The piece previously featured in PinchukArtCentre’s 2009 exhibition ‘Requiem’.
