'13 Rooms' will run for 11 days and has been curated by renowned museum directors and curators Hans Ulrich Obrist, co-director of London’s Serpentine Gallery, and Klaus Biesenbach, Director of MoMA PS1 in New York. Originally commissioned as '11 Rooms’ by Manchester International Festival, the International Arts Festival RUHRTRIENNALE 2012-2014 and Manchester Art Gallery, this landmark exhibition will now be extended and presented at Pier 2/3 in Sydney’s Walsh Bay including new and re-imagined works, specially commissioned for this project, by some of the world's most celebrated contemporary artists spanning six continents.

Hirst’s ‘Twins’ installation piece is exhibited as part of the programme. First shown at Jay Jopling’s stall at the inaugural ‘Unfair’ in Cologne in 1992, the work consists of seated identical twins positioned in front of a pair of Hirst’s spot paintings, applied directly onto the wall behind. The work’s title changes according to the names of the participating twins, thus when first exhibited in 1992 it was variously subtitled ‘Marianne, Hildegard’ and ‘Ingo, Torsten’.

13 Rooms in Sydney will also include iconic artists Marina Abramović, John Baldessari and Joan Jonas alongside Tino Sehgal; artist duo Allora and Calzadilla; Simon Fujiwara; Xavier Le Roy; Laura Lima; Roman Ondák; Santiago Sierra; and Xu Zhen.

In addition to the 12 international artists selected to participate in the project, Australian artist duo Clark Beaumont will be invited by the curators to present work in a new thirteenth room.
